JEAN HARLOW. Beauty, brains and love
Jean Harlow was born as Harlean Harlow Carpenter in a house located at 3344 Olive Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
Because of the color of her hair they called her “Platinum Blonde” — Harlow was the first Hollywood diva who had this nickname. Often nicknamed also the “Blonde Bombshell”, Harlow was popular for her “Laughing Vamp” screen persona.
The main features of her screen image were sensuality and strong sex appeal. She was married three times. Harlow was in the film industry for only nine years, but she became one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars, whose image in the public eye has endured.
And, of course, she was the idol of Gladys Pearl Monroe and her daughter Norma Jean Baker, the future Marilyn Monroe.
In addition, Jean Harlow was, according to eyewitness accounts, a very witty and generous woman. She helped her friends a great deal.
Her films are a great pleasure for anyone who loves the 30’s era.
Happy birthday, lovely Jean!
