The Monsters Are Due on 10 Cloverfield Lane

I really enjoyed this movie and was surprised by the final 10 min or so. But, it would have been far more satisfying had the film finished with our heroine simplt glimpsing the alien vessel on her emergence from the bunker then cue end credits. A bit like the famous Charlton Heston surprise ending to the first Planet of the Apes movie (yes I go back that far). In its last 10 min, 10CL also borrowed heavily and unnecessarily, from Alien (scantily clad and scared shitless heroines trying to get into EVA suits) and even War of the Worlds, where Tom Cruise also managed to bring down his captor with an explosive device (admittedly improvised in 10CL). None of these bolt ons were needed, but hey ho, makes a change from the usual mainstream dross.
