During a seminar organized by the Global Wellness Summit, Dan Buettner, a journalist and Blue Zones expert, revealed some key nutrition tips for longevity based on his extensive research. Here are the main points: 1. Enjoy wine after 5 p.m., preferably with friends and a meal “There is ample evidence in Blue Zones that a couple of glasses of wine per day, but they mostly abstain from heavy drinking and do everything in moderation.

Many people that live long and healthful lives will eat primarily plant based foods. These are good for your brain, heart and gut, and people in the blue-zones are faithful to this diet.

People in the blue zones eat typically 65% of their diet based on carbs. When you pair it with fiber, along with micronutrients, you cannot go wrong! The foods come from beans, nuts, fruits and grains.

These people enjoy meat on occasion which is also good for the heart, the muscle tissues and colorectal health. People that consume higher amounts of meat will suffer from early mortality rates as well as cancers, etc.

These people live on water, coffee and wine, and these are the predominant types of beverages for them. They stay away from sodas which will negatively impact the health.

These people enjoy intermittent fasting which is a great restart for the metabolism. They eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper. Then, they eat all of their food within an 8 hour window, which leaves 16 hours for the food to digest and their bodies to rest. This is a great way to live a long healthful life.
