Interesting art installation and it seems like an appropriate environment and context. It also raises some interesting questions about the place of AR in ARt Gallery. Digital art in AR form now requires allocation of certain physical space. Even though it weights nothing, it is still a physical sculpture, since it takes certain physical space for representation, and has the similar constraints imposed. Context is an important aspect of an artwork and often requires gallery/museum settings for exhibiting. But is the “white cube” the best setting in this case? Also it is interesting to think about the future of art in the context of this technology. We were able for several years now to use photogammety software to make a digital 3D copy of any sculpture from museum, but now we are able to get that 3d model even easier, and place it in our livingroom. I do not think it will influence much commodification of art; after all we were in position for decades to snap a photo of a masterpiece and print it at home, but it is still a step further in that direction.

Stepping away from “do not touch the artwork” and actually inviting visitors to contribute is also interesting aspect of this technology in arts. We all know how publicly collaborative works usually end - with phalluses dominating the piece; but with endless control, or even integration of AI into this medium we could do much more.

I only hope Malevich’s “White on white” in AR and “AR Suprematism” in general is at least 20 years away… or maybe we should start with it…
