Among all the Cronos memecoins I have invested in, there is one that is unique and an outlier, as though it belongs to a different species of memecoin. This token is none other than Mystery on CRO, also known as $MERY.
I will reveal it in advance: investing in this coin means investing in its founder. Yes, it has the strength and support of a true token community, but at its core lies the proficiency and business acumen of its creator, @BuiBaoToan2807.
Without yet going into the details and history of the coin, a sweeping overview of initiatives executed by David around $MERY quickly reveals projects that one would not typically expect to be correlated with a memecoin.
Let me explain. Normally, utility tokens convince you to support them by promising a service. However, many of these tokens either fizzle out or fail to deliver, leaving you lost in their jargon and buzzwords.
With $MERY, the coin acts as more than just a utility; it is creating an ecosystem around itself, as though playing the long game (years of lifespan) — which I believe it is. In other words, it is a special coin that pretends to be a memecoin (and I mean that in a very positive way). It’s playing chess while others are playing checkers, creating a moat around itself.
For example, one of the projects initiated around $MERY is a website called Memes on Cronos. With this tool, you will be able to track curated memecoins on Cronos.
In addition, you can create portfolios based on these memecoins and track their performance.
This is where it gets interesting. Most memecoins only have a website, typically consisting of a single static page. These websites can be created and go live in minutes. In fact, you can create a new memecoin, from idea to release, within an hour — complete with presale, website, distribution, etc. It’s the community building that takes time. It has been proven that this is the minimum you need to release a successful memecoin.
So, what is the point of creating Memes On Cronos when $MERY as a token is already the second most successful memecoin on Cronos, next to $CAW? The answer aligns with what I shared earlier: when you are investing in $MERY, you are investing in its founder.
David does not treat $MERY as a memecoin, but as a business. He creates services that synergizes with the token, as well as strengthens it and protects it from other memecoins.
Yes, we might have $STUCK or others that could become stronger than $MERY in the future, but as of now, $MERY is no longer playing the same game as all other memecoins on Cronos. This is what I mean when I say it is unique and an outlier. $MERY is a business with potential that extends beyond what is typically available to memecoins.
All the other memecoins in Cronos are based on a single template — $CAW, $STUCK, $CROAK, $PUUSH, etc. And there is nothing wrong with that. People will make money, and lots of it, out of that template, both for the creators and investors. It is an excellent template.
$MERY does not belong to that template.
This is equivalent to when Amazon started, and people saw it as just another online bookstore competing with other bookstores. Jeff Bezos was playing a different game when he initiated Amazon.
Note — I shared in my article about mouse in pasta, that if there is only one true memecoin that I will invest in, it will be $STUCK. That is still true. But I don’t consider $MERY as a true memecoin, in the same way that I don’t consider Pokemon just as a video game (It is a franchise). When I invest in $MERY, I am trusting on the business acumen of David.
And with that, let’s deep dive into the token itself.
David Creates His Own Memecoin
Weeks before working on the idea that will become the new memecoin known as $MERY, David was busy supporting a different token called TrollCoin.
Even with $TROLL, you can easily observe David’s authenticity, passion, and drive when he talks about a project he is deeply interested in.
Many people who are not familiar with him misinterpret this style of communication as hype. They couldn’t be more wrong. This phenomenon is not unique to David; you can easily notice it in people who are extremely driven to succeed and have a way of manifesting their will through their words.
Before I move on from this topic, I want to make something clear. There is a heightened version of this seen in the master salesman himself, Steve Jobs. They even coined a term for it: the “Reality Distortion Field”. You can observe variations of it in highly charismatic and driven individuals, as this attribute is often necessary for leadership. Furthermore, the person who exhibits this quality usually genuinely believes in what they say. This belief is a crucial prerequisite and core difference from those who make false promises.

So going back to the origin of $MERY, on May 22, David tweeted about the idea of creating his own memecoin.
With the positive feedback he got from his tweet, he decided to proceed.
And finally, on March 24, David revealed for the first time the prototype of what will become Mistery on Cro. You will notice he is referring to some negative experiences related to another coin. This pertains to TrollCoin, which I will discuss in a separate article. Nevertheless, this experience only helped David become more prepared for his own token.
In this tweet, he requested people to share their wallet address if they were interested. The response exceeded his expectations, with more than 350 people showing interest (450 in total), signaling a strong potential for the future success of this new memecoin.
One day later, via the official Twitter account of $MERY, the official mascot of Mistery on Cro was revealed.
Trivia: When reading this tweet, it’s immediately apparent that it was written by David, isn’t it? 😆
What followed is a busy period where David prepared for the presale activities.
For those interested, here are the tokenomic details of $MERY:
- 50% for Presale
- 5% for Airdrop rewards
- 45% for LP
And for the presale:
- Soft Cap: 420,000 $CRO
- Hard Cap: 690,000 $CRO
- Minimum Buy: 42 $CRO
- Max Buy: 12,690 $CRO
Within 4 minutes of the presale, they were able to raise 250K $CRO.
And as expected, $MERY was able to achieve even the Hard Cap.
And the support from the CRO community came flooding in.
During the first four days of $MERY’s trading, the token experienced a dip, with the market cap ranging from $150K to $300K.
However, $MERY showed its strength after a week, and from there, it just kept rising, becoming the most successful memecoin in Cronos for a token that is not yet listed on any centralized exchange.
At its peak, $MERY was able to reach a $36M market cap relying only on DEXes.
For comparison and context, $CAW reached its highest market cap of $18M while on DEX before going down, only to later blast off to $115M after its CDC listing.
An Exciting Future
With the work ethic that David has demonstrated in leading the $MERY project, as well as the other initiatives that strongly synergize with it, members of the community know that Mistery on Cro is in good hands and that the best is yet to come.
Until now, members of the community are still waiting for the eventual listing of $MERY on CDC. However, even while waiting, the $MERY team has not stopped gaining listings from other central exchanges and participating in events to ensure $MERY has a worldwide presence and exposure.
In conclusion, with all the accomplishments that $MERY has achieved, we can truly say that Mistery on Cro is genius.
