I tried making kale not so boring: was pleasantly surprised at the result!

I had bought a big bag of kale thinking I would actually use to make a salad this time. As usual, I didn't and it started getting soggy and I feel terrible for wasting food. This is how I was raised, even a tiny bit of food waste doesn't feel right to me. So I wanted to try something new, and if it works I would have used kale and zero wastage.

It turned out to be super simple.

Things you will need: Kale, or any greens, salt, green chilies, turmeric, flour, cumin powder, chili powder optional

Chop kale leaves into tiny pieces — as small as you can get

Add half a cup of flour, add salt to taste, chopped green chilies, cumin powder, and turmeric. Add a little water, just enough to help you mix in slowly.

This is a little bit of work on your fingers and hand. You have to keep mushing it all together, the volume of kale will reduce and you will be able to start making little balls of kale. I kept it small-sized to make sure it doesn't break. This is the trickiest part.

That's it! You are done with the prep work. Now from here on — you can either deep fry the kale balls, air fry them, or even throw them in the oven.

I tried both deep oil frying and oven way.

Oil Method: Make sure the oil is heated up before you start frying them. Be very careful while placing them in the pot. You don't want to be burnt with hot oil — I have been there. It's not fun. Let it sit for 3–5 minutes before turning to other sides to avoid breaking them.

Oven Method — glaze your baking sheet with some oil, and place them at around 350 F inside the oven. Check intermittently. It took about 45 min for me, and I have a tiny oven.

My favorite? Undoubtedly deep-fried ones! Serve it with some sweet or spicy chutney. Next, I want to experiment with some yogurt curry, I can tell it will be a great combination.

Thank you for coming along on my first blog post! I truly appreciate it.
