Any given Sunday

Dancing in an Belgian alley

In Belgium, as in much of Europe, Sunday is a very quiet day. Most business are closed, including restaurants, grocery stores, and there is very little traffic on the roads. This is very different from US and is going to take some time to get used to.

The sunday opening hours are regulated by country and municipal laws, and can be linked to christian tradition and labor laws.

Most stores also close early on weekdays, 8 pm for most grocery stores. So, this is another thing that I will miss about U.S.

Convenience for shoppers is not a priority here, but I am told that family time and visiting with friends is.

We’ll have to see.
