Episode 27 Tracey Jaquith
Join Tracey Jaquith, the visionary mind behind the Internet Archive’s TV/News archive, for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking ChatGPT implementation. Explore the innovative technology that powers the nightly scanning and summarization of news chyrons from top channels, providing a reliable and accurate source of information without the pesky distractions of ads. Tracey will showcase the state-of-the-art AI inputs and techniques designed to enhance research capabilities, all the while ensuring precision and accuracy.
As Tracey Explains:
“So I have always found these chyrons extremely valuable. They’re like a human talking about what’s on TV. So, as we started looking into Open AI’s tech, I was immediately like, ‘I wonder what it could do for the chyrons?Like, could it get rid of typos? Could it get rid of ads?’ And it turns out, yeah, it can do that.
Next, we use GPT4 to create summaries based on the chyron data. Although we were initially concerned about GPT4 adding inaccuracies to the summaries– but we’ve looked at this for many months now, and we can’t find a single instance of a hallucination. Now, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened, just that we’ve really been looking, and we haven’t found it. This is most likely because we are providing the chyron descriptions directly to GPT4 when asking it to generate the summaries.”
