How HyperCycle’s HyperAIBox and HypC 1.0 will work with OpenCog Hyperon to usher in a new era of decentralized superintelligence.

Join us this Friday, May 24th at 11am PST/6pm UTC with special guests Toufi Saliba, CEO of HyperCycle and our own co-host Ben Goertzel, appearing this week in his capacity as CEO of SingularityNet and leader of the OpenCog project.

As always, your hosts Lisa Rein and Desdemona Robot will be there and you are welcome to ask questions and participate in the discussion.

Episode 32: HyperCycling Towards Superintelligence

HyperCycle provides the essential missing components required for the Internet of AI, where networked AI agents can cooperate and compete at the micro level in ways that bring about emergent intelligence at the macro level.

This vision of an “Internet of AI” has been a longstanding goal for computer and AI scientists. Advancements in network speed, cryptography, and related fields have led to the development of a system that enables direct, peer-to-peer transactions, leading to substantial reductions in time and energy costs.

As Ben Goertzel Explains:

“HyperCycle is a combination of TODA, the ledgerless blockchain, with some other technology ideas that came out of the SingularityNET ecosystem.

The overall goal we’ve had in pulling TODA together with these other technologies to form HyperCycle was really, initially, to make a blockchain infrastructure that would enable us to do on-chain AI, at large scale and with low cost and high efficiency. Meaning that we want to sort of scale down the use of blockchain within AI systems. So littler and littler chunks of AI processing can be done on blockchain.

Some of the other ingredients that we’ve pulled into HyperCycle include: proof of reputation, and then the MeTTa smart contract language that’s connected with opencog AI system. It is also quite interesting the way it intersects with things like the transitioning of some crypto mining firms to AI server farms and so forth.”

About the HypC Architecture

A HypC 1.0 computation node is the core component of the HypC architecture that will connect with SNet, Nunet and OpenCog Hyperon and whatever other useful protocols emerge in the future. This software enables the smallest AI modules to interact and transact with any other modules efficiently and securely due to its cryptographic proofs and true P2P design.

The ability to facilitate cooperation between micro-level computational modules requires secure peer-to-peer contracting, while “subcontracting” allows modules to compensate each other in milliseconds for computations (due to not relying on third-party intermediaries). This enables the direct transmission of extremely small values.

As Toufi Saliba, CEO of HyperCycle explains:

“We were doing that tiny little piece that we feel that it’s missing in the internet of AI. And it’s referred to as more like the synapses of the global brain. Why? Well, if you were to look at the nature of how neurons, they communicate between each other, they actually communicate value between each other, and they do not check with central brain, every time they do those communications, they rely on something called synapses and synapses, they do their job really, really well.

So we felt we want to give up the entire work that we’ve done throughout all the years, to make them fit in those tiny little synapses, and make them do their work really, really well. So those synapses, we call them “HyperCycle computation nodes.”

About the HyperAIBox

The HyperAIBox Appliance

The HyperAIBox is a plug-and-play device that is specifically designed for AI computing on the HyperCycle Network.

The goal of the HyperAIBox is “to empower individuals with in-home data storage, machine learning, and AI computation, reducing reliance on global corporations.”

The HyperAIBoxes come with pre-installed and pre-configured software that will enable you to run your nodes directly from home. Simply plug it in, connect your wallet, attach your license and start providing AI computing on the network. They also stack easily if you which to use more than one at a time if you wish to multiply your computing power even more.

Opencog Hyperon + HypC 1.0 = Internet of AI

Opencog Hyperon is an advanced cognitive framework aimed at achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) by integrating various AI algorithms with a distributed metagraph known as an “Atomspace.”

Opencog Hyperon will work with HyperCycle’s HypC 1.0 protocol and HyperAIBox in numerous ways over the next few years.

As Ben Goertzel Explains:

“Once we have HypC 1.0 then this will become the default blockchain on which OpenCog Hyperon nodes are deployed…. We can make a customized consensus mechanism that allows very fast operation of the HypC subnetworks underlying networks of Hyperon instances…

We are also looking at using the next version of HyperAIBox as part of the base station for our Mind Children child-sized humanoid robots.”
