Ah, yes, the -ism. I know it well. You’re not alone in the boat of wanting to go big or go home. I did the same thing when I came up with the idea of starting a blog. Journaling helped me so much, and I had all of this knowledge on how I’ve stayed sober, so I decided to start a blog. I went as far as getting a domain name, and started the set-up for my page, and then I backed out. I got overwhelmed because I couldn’t have it up and running yesterday. I thought it would be easy to get it up and running, with the whole world reading my vast knowledge on how to stay sober. After I realized it would take some work I took a step back and realized what I was doing, and that my ego was getting the best of me. Ha!
So, my advice to you (from my own experience), start small. Like your husband suggested, write here on Medium. Sure, your readership might start small, but if you keep it up at least you’ll have peace of mind. And who knows, maybe you can really help someone. But you never know until you try :)
Happy writing to you!
