This is a quick beginner’s guide for those that would like to start with mining and came across minerstat.

Minerstat is a mining monitoring and management software and while it is mostly intended for those that are managing a larger number of rigs, it can also be used by complete beginners that are ready to learn about the world of mining. The main benefit of using minerstat with a small rig or just one GPU is having all mining clients at the tip of your finger. You can quickly switch between different mining combinations and optimize your rig on the go - remotely from the web dashboard.

🔎 What do you need to start mining?

  1. Hardware: You need a powerful enough GPU. If you aren’t sure if your GPU is powerful enough, check our list of supported hardware.
  2. ETC (or RVN) wallet address: If you didn’t create your ETC wallet, you can find wallet providers here. ETC wallet address should start with 0x. If you don’t have 4GB or more VRAM on your GPU, then you might need some other wallet, for example, RVN.
  3. Software: You can download minerstat for Windows here. If you are more adventurous and want to mine with our dedicated mining OS, you can download it here.

🚫 What is not supported?

Due to the nature and purposes of our software, we have decided to not support:

  • Mining on laptops;
  • CPU-only mining (but we do support GPU+CPU mining);
  • Mixed AMD and Nvidia rigs/computers.
  • Mining different coins with different GPU mining clients at the same time.

⏩ I’m ready. Let’s start.

The first thing you can do is register a new account if you haven’t already. After that, add a new worker and follow the instructions for installation.

Use your access key and worker’s name to identify on the software and your worker will soon be online and mining.

Mining ETC

First, open the address editor and update the DEMO wallet address to your own ETC address.

Then open the worker’s config by clicking on the wrench icon 🔧 on the worker’s list or by adding the worker as a target on the general config page. Scroll down to the mining client’s configuration and select the mining client that you want to use:

  • Phoenix: Good for both AMD rigs and Nvidia rigs.
  • T-Rex: Good for Nvidia rigs - especially the 3000 series.
  • TeamRedMiner: Good for AMD rigs.

Click on the [Simple] tab and click like shown on the image:

[Save changes] and you are mining. 🚀 Unless you are using cards with 4GB or lower VRAM. Then you will need to read the second part - Mining RVN.

💡 Note: You can use any mining pool.

Mining RVN

First, open the address editor and add a new RVN wallet tag with your RVN wallet address.

Then open the worker’s config by clicking on the wrench icon 🔧 on the worker’s list or by adding the worker as a target on the general config page. Scroll down to the mining client’s configuration and select the mining client that you want to use:

  • KAWPOWminer: Good for both AMD rigs and Nvidia rigs.
  • T-Rex: Good for Nvidia rigs.
  • TeamRedMiner: Good for AMD rigs.

Click on the [Simple] tab and click like shown on the image:

[Save changes] and you are mining. 🚀

💡 Note: You can use any other pool. However, for those that mine with 1 rig, Ethermine is a good pool, and it is easy to start.

What now?

Now you need to wait. You will start earning some coins on the pool and receive them once you reach the minimum payout threshold. To see how much you have made, just open the pool’s website and enter your wallet address.

It will show you mining statistics and how much you need till the payout. Keep in mind that if you are connecting to a PPLNS pool, you need to wait a few hours before estimated earnings will get more reliable.
