Worker’s config: Templates

Some mining managers like to try out different mining clients, test various configs and overclocking profiles, others are changing the pool addresses and wallets frequently, and some want to apply the same configs to thousands of workers and leave it until the next update.

The worker’s config page can look overwhelming for newcomers, but after they get used to it, they quickly understand why we have designed it differently. Here is also a tutorial that shows how to use it. But, we still had one feature missing that is nowhere and will greatly improve how mining managers organize their mining configs.

We are introducing Config Templates to both free and paying accounts.

What are config templates?

Config templates are - as the name says - templates in which you save different configs. They are available under Management. Each config template can have a ClockTune profile attached to it, so you only need to switch to the new profile and the new ClockTune profile will be automatically applied.

How to use config templates?

On the config templates page, you can add a new config template:

  • Template name: You can name your template in any way, but make sure that name will make you remember which setting you used in this template.
  • Mining client: Select the mining client that will be a base of this template. Selecting a mining client will load its default config which you can edit and prepare for your template. As same as under worker’s config, you can use tags that are predefined in the Address editor. If you make a mistake, there is a button Reset to default to reset your config to the default style.
  • ClockTune profile: If you want, you can assign a certain ClockTune profile to your new config template. If you don’t want, leave the option at Don't change and ClockTune profile will be loaded from your other settings.

After you save changes, your config template will be shown on the list of templates. You can then use it on a worker in three different ways.

Worker’s config

Instead of writing to the client’s configs, you can simply select the config template from a menu.

Profit switch

You can also load the config template when you select a custom mining client for the coin option under the profit switch.

Switch template

Before we introduced the config templates, you could switch between mining clients from your workers’ list. We have now replaced this option and you can switch directly between config templates (so if you attach the ClockTune profile to it, you can switch from the coin from one algorithm to another coin from another algorithm with two simple clicks).

The same option is available under the worker’s profile.

What else can you do with config templates?

To make the management of the config templates easier, you are able to import and export all of your config templates or individual config template. Each template can also be duplicated.

Disclaimer: Config templates work as shortcuts - this means that if you change the content of your template, it won’t automatically change the configs of workers that are using this particular template. You will need to load the content from the template once again in such cases.
