Today vs. tomorrow. I am the worlds worst when it comes to procrastinating. In college, if a paper was due on Monday at 11:59 PM, my paper was being turned in Monday at 11:58. It’s still a HUGE hurdle for me to get over. But every time I procrastinated I gave the same excuse, “I’m better when the pressure’s on.” I do believe this to be true in some cases, but in other cases I know I was just being lazy and wanted to do what I wanted to do. Here’s the problem with that philosophy, it’s counterproductive. My issue is I want to do what I WANT, but there are things I NEED to do. Instead of waiting until the last minute, why not knock it out as soon as it’s assigned and create my own pressure to get it done? A great idea but without follow through it means nothing.
Those of you reading right now are probably thinking, “I thought this was a blog about worship?” It is. Here’s my point. How many of us in our daily lives push back worshipping God? Again, I’m not saying to pull out your instrument, turn the sound system on, and prepare a set list. I’m talking about closing the door to your room, office, car, wherever you are, and just thanking God for who He is. When was the last time God was your priority? I constantly examine the priorities in my life and if God isn’t number one I adjust. Instead of saying “I’ll start tomorrow” start TODAY, right NOW. If you don’t start something immediately the chances of it ever getting done drop exponentially. Stop reading and thank Him.
