The ultimate sophistication

So many products/apps/services are too complicated for new users to understand them at the first few minutes. While the producers may be proud of their “brilliantly advanced” products, they forget one simple thing — if people can’t get you, they don’t know how great you are and how you are going to make their life easier.
So many ideas/business owners are more than happy to show “a list of 5 best things about my products” rather than “here’s a problem which should be solved.” There is a real danger when we get caught up in our own world and we are so detached from the reality.
The first question pops up in anyone mind while approaching a new product is “There are so many other options out there, why do I have to waste time to learn about this stuff.”
Think about why Ice Bucket Challenge is a phenomenal success. The idea behind the campaign is brilliant. Instead of being to wordy about ALS disease, the creator simply ask people to do one simple task and pass it to their friends. It is fun, simple enough to understand and the purpose is meaningful so that the people who were challenged just couldn’t say no.
It is not that the producers or the products aren’t great enough. They simply didn’t put themselves in the shoes of the users/customers. Once again, for me, the most important thing marketers should never forget is never stop thinking like your audience. Make it simple, easy to understand. It saves people time, it gives you more traffic.
