What makes a person good is their vote?

Sorry Bill it doesn’t work that way. Some Personalities always says that “anything that interfers w/someones profit is Socialism” line & thats plain BS.

The fact is that Wage & Hour Laws are the direct antipode to Slavery. Minimum Wage laws need to be set at a level that a person can support themselves & 1.2 Minor Dependents at a basic level sustainance (Food, Housing, Clothes, etc) w/o Government Subsidy if they work Full Time. Any less than that is Socialism American Style i.e. for the Rich(1%, whatever). Overtime, Working Condition , & Health/Safety Rules are also a part of this.

For every Econ PHD who opposes Minimum Wage there are 2+ who support them. As for job loss count alot of the calculation comes from totaling up hours initially cut, dividing them by 40. Say you have 40 workers working 25 Hrs/Wk for a total of 1000 Hrs/Wk & a payroll $10,000/Wk @ $10/Hr. The minimum wage goes up $1 to $11/Hr & the company decides to handle part of the increase by reducing Total Payroll hours to 960 initially. This means workers are cut from 25 Hrs/Wk to 24 Hrs/Wk. The workers still get a $14/Wk raise working 1 less weekly hour, the company payroll only increases $560 & Economists say that 1.6 jobs(40Hrs/25 Hrs Wk) were lost. Yet no Flesh & Blood Worker was actually let go. In fact the # of weekly hrs will revert to 10,000/wk as business activity demands( but the review of actual tasks is another net positive). Also, frankly, Minimum Wage increases allow an enterprise to raise prices to cover ALL increased costs(Supplies, Utilities, etc)because the Customer buys the fact that the increase is going to workers.

Also since minimum wage workers usually spend all their extra income immediatly minimum wage increases are an Economic Stimulus. That at least has been my exprience as an Employer in the Retail Sector & not an Ivory Tower Academic.
