A Helping Hand
This year I want to focus on reaching out to people who suffer with depression, anxiety, and Post-traumatic stress disorder and to break the stigma/stereotyoes that come with it. To me taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health. I want to give a voice to the people who feel like they can’t talk about their mental issues and help them realise the importants of letting it out. One of my steps in achieving this goal is to write a book that connects with people’s emotions and makes them feel valid.
A lot of the time I will see people who feel like they can’t talk about their mental issues and they bottle it up inside. When we bottle things up, eventually there will be no more room in the bottle and it will burst. However, when we decide to talk about our own issues with others we make connections with them and even learn things about ourselves.
Most of the time when people do let out their emotions it comes out in anger. Anger is an easy emotion to express and it is just mask to put over how we really feel inside. Showing your true emotions, whether it be fear or sadness, is NOT a sign of mental weakness. In my opinion, it’s a sign of mental strength becuase you chose to remove the mask and be transparent to the world. This is why I want to reach out and help these people remove their masks becuase I understand what its like to feel unheard, to feel like you can’t talk about your issues. So, join me in my journey to help remove the stigma on mental health and reach out a helping hand to others who need to hear that they are valid.
