Case Study: WhatsApp — ask your friends for money
Problem
There wasn’t really a problem, more of one of those sad life events that just inspired me. The origin story of this video is that someone whom I hadn’t spoken to in so many years reached out, and told me many fake stories to get money from me. Then once I sent him some cash to supposedly help, he stopped calling me, didn’t say he’d received it, went silent and I never heard from him again.
I heard he did it to someone else too.
Influence and inspiration
Nonetheless, I took inspiration from that event and a video I’d originally seen on WhatsApp and made my own video.
Solution
I made this video as a joke and a serious caution for people to not be entitled to others’ hard-earned money.
Headache
One of the difficult parts of making this motion design was in animating the images into perfect circles.
