Yes, Jews should be on the front lines of anti-racism because it’s the right thing to do, and we shouldn’t only fight for justice when it affects us. But you’re forgetting the part about “if I am not for myself, who will be for me?”
I despise this perspective that Jews are being “selfish” by asking for solidarity against anti-Semitism. As if we have to prove that we are also fighting for others by performatively not fighting for ourselves.
Demanding anti-Semitism be recognized does not take away from the recognition of anyone else’s oppression. We don’t have to deny our own worthiness of solidarity in order to support others.
