Thanks for the response. I suppose most concerns with regards to consistent exposure would really only be relevant to people like farmers who use these chemicals everyday. As someone using them in smaller quantities on a non-consistent basis, I find the risk to be far lower than the reward.
There are many things we as humans consume and use everyday that can be considered carcinogenic, especially by California standards, but often the rates at which the quantities or consistencies necessary to cause alarm or concern aren’t relevant to the everyday consumer…. Everything in moderation tends to be a fairly safe path to take when it comes to everything from the food you choose to consume, or the activities you choose to take. Alcohol and Aloe Vera are carcinogens by California standards as well…. Most humans are still willing to take the risk of consuming these products.
With the scale of the amount of knotweed we have we have been discouraged by the Michigan DNR to rototill or dig, as the root structure of our patch is quite large. At this point we would likely have to dig up the majority of our .5 acre yard to eradicate it and kill many trees in the process to ensure entangles root structures are gone.
We’ve chosen to take the glyphosate path. And I’m confident in our choice that we won’t suffer any significant medical risk by doing so. Thanks for your cordial response and concern.
