Masculine represents cultural stereotypes associated with the sex class male. The concept of masculine cannot exist without the biological concept of male, but the biological concept of male exists independently of what society calls masculine. The latter changes through time within cultures, and is different across cultures. See for example the association of pink with girls and blue with boys.
