The most effective way to remove heavy duty construction adhesives is using industrial grade adhesive remover. As most of the industrial grade adhesive removers consist of strong chemicals, a clean up solvent should always be tested on a small, hidden area to ensure that the solvent won’t damage your floors or walls.

An adhesive remover generally comes with built-in scrapers and sponge applicators. So, you don’t need to purchase any additional tools. When applying an adhesive remover, apply the clean up solvent with the sponge application. After application of the solvent, leave it for some minutes and then try to scrape the adhesive off the surface. Several heavy duty construction adhesives don’t melt easily when you expose them to adhesive removers. If you find that the adhesives upon your floors or walls don’t melt easily, apply an abundant quantity of the remover on the affected surface. The clean up solvent should be left on the area for around an hour. After one hour, scrape the adhesive off the surface gently.

3. Blast the adhesive off using water

Construction adhesives that are stubborn and are on hard materials like rock and bricks, can be eliminated by blasting the area using water pressure system of high power or by sand blasting. Sand blasting and water pressure serve the purpose, however, they can leave marks upon the surfaces of the hard materials like rocks and bricks. Sand blasting may leave some ugly marks on floors and wall too, so, employ this method only when there are no other suitable options. If some areas on walls and floors become unevenly colored after application of sand blasting or water pressure for removing construction adhesive, consider repainting the areas to make the colors even.

4. Apply heat upon the surface affected

Heat can resulting in melting of stubborn construction adhesives without causing any damage to the surface of walls or floors. To eliminate construction adhesive from floors or walls, scrape the adhesive off gently while applying heat to the floor or wall surface. Perform the scrapping while the floor or wall surface is hot. Keep in mind that once the surface becomes cold, the adhesive tends to get hardened, which makes it difficult to remove the adhesive without causing any damage to the wall or floor.

Construction adhesives are often stubborn and removing them may be a challenge. However, these tips would help you remove the adhesives in an effective way.
