Fair point and I have seen these articles that do advise on creating questions for user testing.
That being said, when a user downloads your app or visits your website for the first time, no-one is looking over their shoulder asking them questions or guiding them in the user interaction.
In my opinion the best way to do user testing is to watch someone use your app and see what they do or what they gravitate towards upon landing. I think probing them, may give them a bias.
I do think the main goal of our careers as UX designers is ensure that we don’t make the user think. Therefore the goal is user testing is to test if our designs have indeed created a strong, guided and delightful user experience.
