The definition of happiness evolves for us as we grow. It starts taking on a different meaning and shape. I have a clearer understanding of what it means to me. Its relevant to my unhappy times with unhappy people. As my understanding of “where there is good there is evil” and “if there is a heaven there is a hell” becomes more real, my appreciation for the good times becomes more important and clear. Quality times with quality people. I’ve even taken a preference to ordering a glass of good whiskey as opposed to a sugar-filled fake-colored cocktail.

As I wondered why certain things have happened to me and why certain people have come in and out of my life, I realized that I may never know. Instead, I learned how to appreciate all the good in my life. I learned to recognize and praise the best in people. I learned to love and never stop for even a second. I learned the necessity of apologizing and forgiving. And how easy it is, especially with the right people. As of today, the lesson is big and they have become small.
