I’ve also seen studies reporting that taller people earn more, though I don’t recall that they factored out occupation as is done here. Some people claim this is a vestigial bias to favor “leaders” that would do well in a tribal war with sticks and rocks, while others claim it is some kind of correlate of brain properties. It would be interesting to examine these issues in the context of some special jobs where there are objective dominant measures of performance. Sales might be an example. If women earn less when volume of sales is factored out then that’s a pretty sure sign of pure sexist bias.
