Claude Shannon and the Information Age

Claude Shannon is a rare case of someone who created a field, stated the main results, and proved most of them all at once. He essentially founded the field of Information Theory through his Master’s thesis in 1948.

Information Theory deals with the fundamental question of what is information, and how it can be transmitted. This has underpinned the digital revolution, from transistors to wireless communication. Below is a great video I came across that tells Shannon’s fascinating story.
