Their objectification of women really isn’t worse than the passive objectification of women in media created by and paid for by white men, it’s just done in a more straightforward manner. The whole of American culture glorifies the idea of having attractive women on your arm as a status symbol — think of all the perfume commercials, Bond movies, and even Transformers movies that portray this. Sure, they don’t call them “hoes,” but is that long shot of a 19-year-old’s ass bent over a car really saying anything else?
So to answer your question, the rappers are just being good American boys. The problem is systemic sexism — it’s just easier to be disgusted at them, since they’re being such “thugs” about it. It’s a problem we as a nation also need to address.
