Book Review: A Lady of High Regard
A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson
Historical Fiction. Romance. Book one in the Ladies of Liberty series.
I am going to go ahead and apologize: I love romance books, so you will most likely be getting quite a few of these.
There is an abundance of things I love about this book. The author does an excellent job at presenting some of the problems they had during the time period in which it is based. It is good to know that she is not simply scanning over the truly real and horrific problems that the characters in the book may have experienced. While there are a lot of things that are purely fiction I love how she makes it seem truly real. There are things thrown in there that you would not expect in any other book, which helps to make the book even better. The book contains great grammar and structure! It is a fairly easy and clean read, and I would recommend it for ages 12 and up. Having read this book four times, I can honestly claim that this is one of my favorite books and one of my favorite authors. All of the books in the Ladies of Liberty series are clean and amazing. If you enjoy this book I would recommend you read some of her other pieces.
Tracie Peterson does a fantastic job bringing her stories to life! I especially enjoy that her characters are each different instead of basically the same characters with different story lines.
Sensuality: Corsets are brought up in conversation twice. Two kissing scenes although one is simply on the cheek. Even though a woman’s outer jacket is pulled open nothing else happens in the scene.
Alcoholism: There is one part in which several men are intoxicated.
Curse words: None
