Miss GEICO Announces 2021 Calendar
Miss GEICO is set to take part in 10 events this year, taking the team across Florida, up the East Coast of the US, and to the Upper Midwest. The host cities for 2021 are reassured by our return to racing this season, and we are energized by their commitment to producing safe, fun, and exciting competition for fans.
The announcement follows an unprecedented year for offshore racing in which the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a revised 2020 calendar of 5 races for Miss GEICO, as the sport became one of the first to resume operations.
Gary Stray, Crew Chief
“This year’s calendar features several familiar venues, with race courses varying in size, shape, and water conditions. As we continue to optimize the setup of our boat after an abbreviated 2020 season, the diversity of course layouts will aid in our development programs. We take immense pride in having the greatest depth of talent in the cockpit, with Steve on the throttles, as Travis and Brit share driving duties. We are optimistic about new entrants to Class 1, and welcome any competition that joins the field. 2021 will provide something for everyone.”
Scott Colton, Managing Member
“We are excited to visit so many of our favorite race sites again this year. Miss GEICO is privileged to have such a robust fanbase across the country. The team can’t wait to get back to racing, and engaging the public everywhere we go. We are more ready than ever to defend our Class 1 Championship title.”
Steve Curtis, Throttleman
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to a full season of racing. It will be great to have Travis and Brit back alongside me in the cockpit, getting more seat time. We have a lot of great racing venues on the calendar, in addition to the air show, which is always exciting for the fans to see us racing the GEICO Skytypers. This season gives us a chance to optimize the package we have, and take it into 2022 in a strong position.”
