I grew up in a rural area without a library. Our local schools didn’t even have libraries! Luckily, my parents somehow always scraped up the cash to buy us books whenever we brought home our scholastic books clubs order forms. But, lots of kids I knew had no access to books. Seeing how our various paths diverged after high school, I have come to believe that access to a library should be considered a basic human right.
