So I don’t understand how streaming music literally pays next to nothing, yet the vlogging industry seems so robust. How can these people go full-time with their makeup-tips, gaming live-streams, “opening up the hidden toys” or whatever, while the hottest acts can go platinum (kinda) with a million listens to make an unsustainable income (after all the royalties/fees to labels, agents, etc.)? Is Youtube paying them differently, they have more ads per broadcast, or there’s more direct sponsorship? I read articles about people quitting their jobs to stream with only hundreds of subscribers, and the economics don’t make sense.
