Indeed, There USED to be a thing called “defending a lady’s honor” That was a part of the Victorian longing for Chivalric Virtue. Men regularly defended women around them as a point of honor. Then things changed. Chivalry is now sexism, even if benevolent. And duals of honor are not fought with the hands or swords, but with guns and gangs. Feminism has said that women are as capable as men, and so they don’t need protectors and providers. So these “ladies” can defend themselves. I have been a bouncer and bartender and through observation most of the problems in those places are due to some idiot man trying to “Stand up for a woman” and getting hauled away by EMTs.
