Men have always been defined by doing. It used to be a compliment to be called “A man of Action.” Few men will define themselves by adjectives, outside of describing themselves physically. This should not be a surprise to anyone who has men around them. As far as masculinity being something easily lost, I don’t see that in the men I know. Their masculinity is never lost, it might get damaged but at their core they are all men.
I got a chuckle out of the correlation between braiding hair and punching a bag as it relates to masculinity. I am happy to french braid a girls hair and punch a bag. However I wouldn’t sit down and work on a puzzle if it was of a naked woman. The tedium would make me want to punch the bag again.
