Meditation: Patience, Day Ten (ten minutes)
Patience means accepting time as it is. Your morning routine takes longer than expected, so you take a later bus. Your work day runs later than normal; you miss a connection, you adapt. A texted request goes unanswered, you adjust.
You appreciate that those inconveniences may lead you down interesting paths. That next bus turns into an offer of a free ride to work from a neighbor. That unanswered text means a longer walk home that features a refreshing sun shower and time with your thoughts and exposure to the inequalities in your neighborhood that appear to be growing.
Patience replaces anger and frustration with opportunity. Patience doesn’t mean waiting. Patience, for me, means finding and flowing with the rhythms of the day rather than working against them.
Look both ways before crossing.
