I seriously have a panic moment around the 12th every month, because that’s the last day to make changes to my order. I accidentally ordered a massive box of garbage bags when we still had half of the first massive box left. I need to do some actual price comparing because I’m not a brand snob, and I suspect I could get some of this stuff cheaper at Target (Market Pantry 4 life!).
I have two kids, so I have to clean out clothes and toys at least once or twice a year. This past time, I sold a number of things on Facebook yard sale groups. It allowed us to pay for my older son to play baseball and for a family zoo membership at a time when money was sort of tight otherwise. I haven’t had much luck with adult clothes, though!
I estimated I would spend $270 on groceries, diapers and a new tire for my car. Except we never went and got the tire (whoops), so that will be an expense today. I spent $165 on groceries, diapers and some deodorant (NEEDED), and we spent $30.80 in cash (from previously mentioned Facebook yard sale group sales) yesterday for lunch out after a trip to…
Sadly I had a flat tire on my way home from work today, which means my weekend estimate will be way more than I anticipated. I really am not even sure how much one tire costs except that they are stupidly expensive. I’m going to guess $120 for the tire + 120 for groceries + 30 for diapers … $270 for the weekend.
Of course, I skimmed over the part about it only being certain stores, so this might not be an option at first. But theoretically, it could eventually be a benefit.
The other thing is that people on SNAP can likely now take advantage of services like Walmart’s online ordering and pickup. So if you live in a food desert but had already planned to make a trip into the nearest city for a doctor’s appointment, order online and pick up at the scheduled time. Or if you’re strapped for time, you can just have someone…
I didn’t post my spending expectations on Friday, but I honestly expected not to spend anything because we were iced in all weekend. Yes, in Alabama, where we got something like 2" of sleet. That’s a MAJOR event for us. My kid’s school is still closed today because of icy roads.
