My Reaction to Today’s Repeal Vote

Can you believe Senator McConnell invited me to the post-vote press conference earlier today?

Oh shit! Recalcitrant, spiteful, male, GOP Senators voted to save face today. Unfortunately, they will, more then likely find a way to seal the devil’s deal and repeal the Affordable Care Act.

The ACA repeal effort was always reactionary and childlike. It was, and still is, a response the President Obama’s 2010, healthcare victory. Republicans lost the healthcare battle and never recovered. They never matured. They never grew up.

Boys will be boys. Did you happen notice, when push came to shove, two girls were the only adults in the Chamber? Senators Collins and Murkowski (both strong, independent women) voted “no” today. Unlike the adult-male toddlers in the room (and free of “Trump-fearing-depleting-testosterone-levels”) they had the good sense to evolve well beyond the limitations of a “my dick is still bigger then Obama’s” ego.

These female Senators, the only real GOP leaders in the Upper Chamber, knew how damaging the scornful, unpopular, downright dangerous, still-to-be-determined legislation could/would be.

They knew Obama era repeal votes were safe, political ruses, free of malelvolent, intended, we-hate-Obama-so-we’ll-fuck-the-public consequences. They knew, in real life, when the vote actually mattered and a real President was no longer around to veto a devastating bill, everyday people would be immeasurably hurt.

When push finally came to shove (and cowardly Conservative boys with squisy political ball sacks didn’t have the courage to stand up and say NO) girl-power x 2 courageously took action. They bucked the limp dick, loud-mouthed, bought-sold-and-paid-for Senatorial man-boys.

Unfortunately, two out of a few dozen could not win the day. And, to be fair, the healthcare vote is more then gender politics. Senator Shelley Moore Capito voted “yes”.

Still, if the GOP, our democracy and the nation has any chance of long term survival, women need to right the sinking ship and run the fucking show. Our male dominated, political landscape sucks.

It’s pretty clear (and I so hope I’m wrong) Donald the Babbling Maniac was correct about one thing. During the campaign he said, and I’m paraphrasing, “I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and I wouldn’t lose my supporters.” At the time, I didn’t realize United States Senators were also members of the floppy haired, ineffectively tanned, Apprentice’s cult.

Now that a legislative “win” is within unpopular reach, President Looney Tweets has more-then-likely secured a green-blooded, unspoken, authoritative, loyalty pledge with GOP members of Congress.

I honestly don’t think they will care about Trumpian madness and/or Russian collusion…..even if the White House releases a new pee pee tape of improvisational Russian prostitues back-strapping Donald in the Lincoln Bedroom. It’s just not going to matter.

I don’t know where this leads and hope against hope I’m astonishingly wrong. I hope I’m just venting. This is, after all, a shitty day for Progressives. Time will tell.
