Over the last three decades, I’ve helped hundreds of companies start and expand around the country and world. Without exception, the companies that succeed do the following six things well. I hope you find this list useful.

Step #1: Determine your customer’s important problem or need.

Step #2: Obtain or create a solution (product or service) that solves that problem or need.

Step #3: Share your solution with the customer. Focus on how your solution benefits the customer. Use pictures and videos together with storytelling. Be human and build long-term relationships.

Step #4: Make it easy for the customer to engage with you and purchase. Create an exemplary customer experience.

Step #5: At the time of sale, give more than what the customer expects.

Step #6: After the sale, provide exceptional support and always stand behind your product or service. Your reputation in business is everything.
