Clearly you know little about the history of America if you’re so willing to call the civil progression towards state organised social welfare in housing, health and income “slavery” to the state.

Please refer to incarceration rates for an indication as to how America has transitioned its reliance on creating a class of under valued citizens who work for less than minimum wage (slavery) for growth. Heightened incarceration rates could be used as this “illusion” of safety within a society you mention.

What I got from Umair’s article is the unfortunate fact that America’s has a lack of value adding institutions empowered by the state for its citizens. It could be an obsession with self-determined prosperity or the “American Dream” mythology.

But you know… Let’s make America great again with an outdated value in nationalism!
