Sometimes even getting selected for a job is a Big Pain!!!

Placements had started in college, companies were lined up and all students were geared up for the battle. The basic expectation of any candidate is a balance between the package and profile. So any company fulfilling this expectation was a Messiah. One such company arrived on campus. Job description was enticing with fair package. Final mock interviews and few preparation touch ups were done.

The day arrived:

Group Discussion and aptitude test were quite good just the final Personal Interview was left. Well let's go with a clean slate without any assumptions about the PI is what I thought of.

PI started off, bit nervous bit conscious I started answering. As the interview started building up, confidence was at peak and the ball was in my court. The interview ended on a good note with me suggesting some ideas about process improvement. Immediately post our PI, results were announced. And it was a yes, I was selected. Moment of joy for everyone in my support system. It was my second attempt at the interview process. That night I got the best sleep one ever could get.

And the New Employee Arrives:

Everyone was going through the induction all the senior team members were explaining the process and working of the organisation. Weeks went and then after doing in-depth analysis and introspection, "I am in deep shit" chants began in my mind. I realised this not I am supposed to be doing, it's no where matching with my personality and passion. So what now, then this thought came to mind What would have happened if I was not selected for the Job? Maybe I could have selected the other offers which I had, maybe I could have waited more, maybe i could have researched more about the company but for now the situation is not gonna change. I am Stuck!!!!

I am sure most of us must have gone through this phase.

You come to know when there is something wrong going on.

Getting placed is a amazing feeling but if your job is not relevant to your skill set and personality, the feeling goes in the negative spectrum.
Good Pay, Comforting Job, People around you are nice.
But some people don't want comfort they love challenges they love to learn new things everyday, they love to contribute everyday with the skills they possess.

My request to all the Aspirants:

Ask Ask Ask all the minute details about the job, roles and responsibilities what will you exactly be doing. The more you question the better it will be for you. Just because you are unemployed don't be desparate to take any job, trust me you won't be excelling in it. Be patient and keep searching you shall get what you deserve and most importantly while applying for your dream job think what value you can add to them, come up with solutions for their existing problems.

Request to the recruiters:

You might come across this situation everytime wherein within a month of joining , your employees have left. Inorder to avoid this, make sure tell them everything about job, it's important you hire right ones.

Make them understand the entire value chain and their Key Responsibility Areas. Show them the demo work if possible so they get clear idea of the job. Please don't create a hype about the company and sell the job. It will double your work once these employees leave you.

In short be transparent as "Drinking Water".

Thank you

If you have come across any such situation in your life, I would love to hear about it and what actions did you take to overcome it. Please mention it in the comment section.
