You have a business, but where would it be without marketing? Yes, nowhere. And where would your marketing be without digital media? Not exactly nowhere, but won’t get that far. If you want to get your business far, you need a digital marketing strategy that will be executed properly. Now you have two choices — either you will try and do it yourself, or you will hire a professional to do it for you and get your business far.

Let’s say you’ve decided to hire someone and now there is a decision that needs to be made — is it better to hire a freelancer or a digital agency? Today, we will help you make that decision by giving you the pros and cons of outsourcing your projects to freelancers or digital agency.

Hiring a Freelancer Pros and Cons

Pros of Hiring a Freelancer

Lower Rates

The good thing with freelancers is that they decide their own rates which are often reasonable. Usually, they base their decision depending on the tasks they have and the project length. So if your project is not huge and you have a limited budget, hiring a freelancer would be a good idea.

Specialized Skills

When freelancers market themselves, they offer only those skills they are good at. They often specialize in a particular field and focus on it. On that front, you can be sure that the right talent will be working for you.

Involvement with the process

Since you will be working with the freelancer, you will be directly involved with the whole process, so you can track everything that’s going on with the campaign.

Cons of Hiring a Freelancer

Unavailability and Work Overload

Freelancers can work whenever they want and on multiple projects. This makes them hard to reach and being late with deadlines, or if they are on time there may be mistakes happening because they are too exhausted. This will bring less satisfying results. Of course, unless they are extremely responsible and careful.

More Chatting — No Work

Because you will be in contact with your freelancer all the time, there will be less work done. You will keep chatting for the changes that need to be made, the ideas they have, what you like, what you don’t like and you will end up in not accomplishing your set target.

Hiring a Digital Agency Pros and Cons

Pros of Hiring a Digital Agency

Quality

Hiring a team of people who know exactly what they are doing guarantees quality work and met deadlines every time. Usually, in the Digital Agencies work people who specialize in their area, and most importantly they work together, so most often there is no place for mistakes.

Results

A digital marketing agency works well because they are specialized in what they do. Hence, they can provide you with relevant analytics and reports that give you a measure of the results you are getting through all your marketing efforts. This proves the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the approach and helps you tweak your marketing strategies accordingly.

Assurance and Workload

Agencies are suited for all kinds of businesses that may be looking for a more structured service provider that assures them from uninterrupted servicing and access to a deeper lake of expertise. Agencies are also capable of handling your marketing activities, even if you decide to increase it. This is because they have the whole team of experts behind them.

Cons of Hiring a Digital Agency

Cost

If you decide to go with an agency you should be prepared to pay more. Agencies are likely to be more expensive than a freelancer, but this is because they themselves have lots of costs as well. The good thing is, you may pay more, but you will get the marketing your company deserves, especially if you have a huge project.

Workload

If you hire an agency, you should beware that they will not give you their full attention, because they have other clients to take care of. However, you will never fall behind and they will make sure to give each client the service they deserve.

Flexibility

Keep in mind that agencies are less likely to be flexible when it comes to response time, because of its structure and size.

So what would be the final decision? According to my opinion, you should choose if you want to hire a freelancer or a digital agency depending on the size of the project and your budget. If you have a project which is not that big and a limited budget, it is better to find a trustworthy person who can take care of your business and hopefully help you extend it. If you have a huge business, then hiring a digital agency would be better for you.
