Title: Fear Experience Ju-On (恐怖体感 呪怨)

Genre: Horror Adventure

Compatible Platform: Wii

Publisher & Release Date: AQ Interactive 2009.7

In the Japanese horror world, the most recognized contemporary strangeness is “Sadako” from The Ring. She struck fear into the hearts of those who saw her with a powerful shock. What a disaster! There is a strangeness that has unleashed a curse that rivals Sadako’s and sometimes clashes with her. There is another legendary film in the Japanese horror world that should not be forgotten. So, it’s “Ju-On” … It has become as popular as the ring, so much so that it was even made into the movie “Sadako vs. Kayako. (貞子 vs 伽倻子)” Yeah when people hear the word Ju-on, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Ju-on-kun. It’s a strangeness about a pure white boy, and he makes a terrifying voice…

Of course, I’ve seen both movies, and it’s hard to choose between the two, they’re both scary no matter how many times I watch them. But, I had no idea that Ju-on was made into a game. Yes, it’s the “Fear Experience Ju-On (恐怖体感 呪怨)” that I’d like to introduce to you. Let’s start with a synopsis…

A family moved into a new house. However, it’s the Saeki family, and the family experiences a spectacular terror…

Now, the game is designed to take advantage of the Wii’s hardware characteristics: it’s an FPS-style game, and the player uses the Wii controller as a flashlight to conquer the game. Yes, it’s one of those experiential games with a realistic feel, like “Night of Sacrifice (イケニエノヨル)” and “CALLING -Black Incoming-” introduced previously (Sadly, the Wii is now out of production and support. Too bad…) There are five stages in total, each one exploring a spot that has turned into another world. An abandoned factory, an apartment complex, and a home… They all have a disastrous atmosphere.

To my surprise, the game has a 2P mode, where player2 can join the game as a threat to player1! This brings back fond memories of the Family Computer of the old generation (thanks, Nintendo!).

Now that live gaming has become mainstream, horror games are perfect for distribution. You can watch the gameplay video of “Fear Experience Ju-On (恐怖体感 呪怨)” on YouTube, so be sure to check it out.

See you tomorrow!
