#22 Horror Game 100 story challenge

When asked the question, “What are some of the best horror games you know?” one of the games that comes up a lot is “Linda³”. This work is a remake of “Linda³”, which was released on the only those in the know hardware console “PC Engine”.

Title: Linda³

Genre: Horror RPG (psychological thriller)

Compatible Hardware: PlayStation

Publisher Release Date: NEC-HE 1995.10

The game system is an RPG, and the main focus of the game is to collect monsters within a time period of eight years in the game. What is unique about this game is the link between in-game and real time. In other words, in-game years elapse by the amount of time the player plays the game. (It’s easy to understand if you imagine the system of the game Tengai Makyo.) At first glance, it seems like a relaxing, relaxing experience, like Pokémon or Monster Farm, but it isn’t.

There is a planet called Neo Kenya, destined to be hit by a meteorite in eight years. The main character Ken, who lives on this planet, plans to emigrate to a different planet with his girlfriend Linda. One of the pillars of the plan was a mission to collect the creatures living on the planet in pairs.

The game scenario based on Noah’s Ark is so interesting and provides a glimpse into the reason for its popularity. However, where are the horror elements? There are four scenarios in this game, each with a completely different turn of events. Two of these scenarios are cruel and horrific…, because only Ken, Linda, and the creature can survive…

Due to the remake of this work, since the PC Engine version, brutal depictions have been regulated. However, the improved image quality and the animation of some parts of the game make it more realistic. Both are interesting, but I would prefer to play the PC Engine version if possible. “Linda³,” a core masterpiece. I hope you will play it!

See you tomorrow!
