Calling all Volunteers — CanTeen Spring Camp 2016.

Next month is the annual CanTeen Spring Camp, where teenagers between the ages of 13 to 24 who are fighting cancer get –together, to share experiences, support each other and ultimately enjoy having fun and forgetting their worries for just a while. The reason for this camp is part of CanTeen’s mission statement; to ensure no 13–24-year-old will ever fight cancer alone. And since CanTeen is a registered charity without government support, they rely on donations and volunteers to help run CanTeen. So, this year we need Teen Volunteers to run the events and activities to give the participants a memorable experience. Here are the details………

· Who — Teenager Volunteers and the Participants

· What — CanTeen Spring Camp 2016

· When — September 2016

· Where — Tawharanui Regional Park

· Why — To give an opportunity for the Volunteers and Participants to create new friendships.

· How — Using both Broadcast Media and Social Media to reach out to potential Volunteers.

By volunteering your time to help run the event and activities in the Spring Camp, you will be giving the participants an experience they will never forget. While ensuring their time at camp is as enjoyable and fun, this will be a great opportunity to spread the word after the camp to increase fundraising to the cause. After all, these are teenagers who are fighting for a quality of life on a daily basis, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. But, giving them a camp experience makes that quality of life even better.

By signing up with CanTeen, you can make those objectives possible as it gives you an experience you will never forget because you get to meet people who have been through all of the life’s challenges during their cancer treatment. How this can decrease their quality of life, just by talking to the participants shows that it’s not only their immediate and extended family that cares; but, a wider community that cares for them and the rest of the participants. This helps their morale and self-esteem.
