(Poem 1 of the anthology)

and they told me that to write well,
one has to write themselves. and i’m a
half-birthed tragedy — and to see myself in words
maybe attributes a little beauty to the abyss i am.

what is home but a memory, a person, and people?
a small repeat where you’d always find yourself there.
miles cannot tear your heart away — but miles cannot
put you back where you think you belong.
because you still belong, and yet, don’t.
a siamese dilemma: half-a-heart here, half-a-heart there.

Are you a citizen?: Yes/No

Are you a permanent resident?: Yes/No

Tell me, where do you belong?: Where? / Where?

Poem 2: upcoming.
