Ricky Martin Explains How He Met His Future Husband: Instagram

A modern love story.

Ricky Martin sat down with Sirus XM’s Andy Cohen to talk about homeschooling his twins, meeting Michael Jackson, performing with Menudo and his upcoming Las Vegas residency. It wasn’t long until the conversation inevitably made its way to Martin and his engagement to Syrian-Swedish artist Jwan Yosef. Martin first broke the news to Ellen DeGeneres in November of 2016 and people have been pining for the details ever since. Cohen was at a loss for words when Martin admitted to meeting Yosef on Instagram. After seeing some of Yosef’s art on Instagram, Martin did some digging to find the artist. Once Martin saw him, that’s when his breath was really taken away. Now, Martin was clear with Cohen that despite sliding into Yosef’s DMs, he kept things gentlemanly and classy by only talking about art.

“I wrote to him and then we were talking for like six months without me hearing his voice,” Martin said about first making contact with Yosef about his art. “We talked about art. Nothing sexy. I swear it was nothing sexy. We just talked about art and life in general. He used to live in London and so I went to London and met. Then it was game over.”

Congrats again, Ricky. You look so happy.

Keep us posted on the wedding plans. We’d also take any left over invites. Just saying.
