You Can Be Sure That Some People Will Wear These Offensive Costumes
Why do people feel they get a racist get-out-of-jail free card on Halloween? We’ve all been there. You go to a Halloween party expecting to have a good time then, BAM! You are face-to-face with yet another racist costume. Here are a couple of costumes you should definitely avoid wearing this year, but you’ll probably see other people trying to make them okay.
Cholos are not a costume.

Btw, having Mexican friends does not negate the racist and offensive manner of such a costume. Pretty sure you wouldn’t hang out with your Mexican friends dressed like that.
Sombreros, fake mustaches and ponchos… just no.

Do people really lack the imagination to just dress up as something else? Like a “Price Is Right” contestant or even a the Monopoly man?
Unless you have and are willing to deal with the dangerous and deadly harassment trans people face on a daily basis, don’t treat their identity as a costume.

You are able to take it off at the end of a night of trivializing and mocking their identity. This is just gross.
One word: mammy.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Are we clear yet?

Spolier: Unless you are Mexican, the sombrero can still be offensive since you are technically appropriating a culture that isn’t yours.
