The next-generation 5G technology sounded like a promising and world-breaking next level technology but lately, people are concerned that it may follow with adverse and health risk which may sound disappointing. There happens to be some downside of this groundbreaking revolution aside from it’s powerful and awesome benefits associated with it.

What are we scared of?

The 5G technology carries ultra-high frequency more than the 3G and 4G in ultra-high intensity and requires more cellular sights and exposure. Which means that there would be massive sights of more towers. And since it is understood that the millimeter-wave doesn’t travel so far, there likely would be mounted signal antennas, base stations and towers in homes, street towers and lights, stores and clinics. We can call this a setback or downside associated with 5G.

Because of the installation of the 5G supported signal router and antenna being vastly projectile all over the community or country, there is concern by the public about being constantly in contact with these frequency and radio waves in the society.

A more pressing fear was inflicted on the public after the news about a radiation effect on birds was released to social media. The post in question held the news of the death of about 300 birds found dead during the 5G experiment held in the Netherlands.

The downside shoots questions like, Are the dangers of mobile radiation powered by the 5G technology being suppressed? Will the 5G technology be accepted and adopted irrespective of the fear gripped by the public because of radiation? What is the environmental damage associated with the new revolution? Or is it just a conspiracy spreading round without proof?

Ionizing radiation is known to cause damages to living cells, resulting in cancer. But fortunately, 5G frequency is non-ionizing and It is quite different from the radiation coming from the sun and x-ray (ionizing radiation). But is that enough to reduce or depress the fear and concerns of the public? Well, it’s not enough.

The 5G Benefits

But the downside can not overweigh the benefits associated with the 5G. The 5G network is the next generation of internet connectivity to provide more reliable internet connection, speed, huge data transfer, automation, more valued augmented reality and trusting Artificial Intelligence (AI). In collaboration with its huge speed boost, evolution and adoption of autonomous/self-driving machines and telemedicine (automated surgical intelligence) will be made more alive.

With its driving network force and low latency, industries with projects and products looking to tap into ultra-connective automation and powered with the 5G network to launch and update world-class technology in agriculture and telemedicine as well as driving computer-aided machines support in surgeries, diagnosis and quick response AI.

Unfortunately, the lack of information drives these fears and uncertainty. More conferences and information to the community are organized to help them understand the benefits and the truth behind these rumors. Health debate also is paramount to better inform the public as research is performed in the case of issues relating to 5G.

Introducing

The 5G African Forum. This 5G Africa forum event will provide a valuable opportunity to meet and interact with the 5G drivers in terms of the wireless industry, players, researchers and stakeholders, bringing together some of the leaders in the industry who have been involved in development and commercialization of 5G across the globe.

With the wireless industry on the verge of the commercial launch of 5G, these leaders will all converge on the 5G Africa Forum 2020 to share their experience of what it takes to commercialize 5G and offer insights into the promise of 5G. Also, health issues associated with the 5G, including the fear of radiation generated by the exposure and bombardment of a number of antennas and towers to widen the 5G signal and network reach. Environmental effect and more understanding of the 5G radiation will also be addressed by researchers and technically speakers at the conference.

Join the two days exclusive forum billed to bring together wireless network providers, operators, industry experts, health experts and policymakers to Johannesburg, South Africa on the 15th — 16th April 2020.
