Based on the title I thought this was going to be a critique of Trump’s ongoing circus of blatant lies, a sarcastic play on his stating he would provide “the truth and nothing else.” I expected yet another prominent Republican breaking with the contemporary insanity of party loyalty over country, and issuing a rebuke of a man overtly lying for political gain. A redemptive act by one whose name is synonymous with political spin.
I was wrong. Not only is she not showing the courage and decency of standing up to her party’s lying, racist, misogynist, and constitutionally-confused candidate. She’s tacitly behind him, spewing the same old partisan nonsense about how all that matters is fighting liberal ideas (ignoring, of course, that Trump himself hardly harbors conservative ideals- especially when it comes to limits on presidential power).
Perhaps I should have known better than to give George W. Bush’s press secretary the benefit of the doubt.
