The wishes of the world are in trouble as the infamous Star Road has been shattered. With the combined power of our familiar favorites Mario, Peach, & Bowser (I know, it’s strange to see Mario & Bowser join forces), along with two new characters Mallow and Gino, they will work together to find the seven lost Star Pieces that would ultimately defeat the Smithy Gang.

What’s the premise of this game?

Embark on a colorful adventure that has a touch of heart warmth as you save wishes from becoming destroyed. Journey through this beautifully crafted world as Mario and friends race to save wishes before havoc ensues. Weddings become chaos, pirates appear, and of course there’s going to be fun and exciting new characters worth interacting with.

When can I play the game?

Well it’s FINALLY here! We can officially dive into the much-anticipated switch adaptation of Mario RPG. Released on 11/17 players are excited to begin — or replay — this star-studded adventure.

“So, What’s the History”?

Though this game is a new release for the Nintendo Switch, this game is a recreation from years past. Mario RPG was originally released on the SNES in 1996. The Mario RPG was originally crafted as competition to the popular Final Fantasy RPG Series and was the first Nintendo RPG production, which is why this game has become an RPG worthy of this upgraded re-release.

What Changed…?

With this updated re-release, new modes have been introduced to make the game more playable for all ages and skill levels. New move abilities have become introduced with both combination of characters or solo abilities. It also has updated the color and animations of the game, we all know Nintendo has a mastery when it comes to adding color to their games, as well as a new soundtrack has arrived.

Who Can You Play With?

The characters available are an interesting list, as you’re (of course) going to have the option of playing with the ever adventurous red-capped plumber, Mario. Alongside him, are characters that you would not expect like Bowser jumping into the mix, Princess Peach giving it a go and two new characters to help on the quest.

Mario

The Mushroom Kingdom’s savior himself, Mario will defeat enemies with his classic fireball and jumping abilities that he’s mastered throughout all these years.

Bowser

Though strange to see Mario’s arch-rival join the party, Bowser appears to become furious when the Smitty Gang invades his castle’s keep, and he’s left with one choice … to join Mario to save his precious real-estate. Bowser uses his Ferocious might as an advantage to squash the pesky new residents in his humble abode.

Princess Peach

It wouldn’t be a Mario game without Mario needing to find Princess Peach — let’s be honest (can someone please get Her Royal Highness a panic room or something…?), Unlike other games, once Peach becomes found she’s able to help Mario and uses her healing powers to contribute to their success, and then I’m sure she’ll bake everyone cake — per usual.

Geno

New character to the gang, Geno is the powerful incognito-appearing protector of the Star Road, and as the protector he’s willing to go to great lengths to ensure peace. As he transforms into a puppet to join the party, his moves are not ones to be trifled with, and apparently doesn’t have strings to slow him down.

Mallow

This friendly frog is a great companion for being the games little brother nature of sorts. He uses weather to attack foes, while using rain to cure allies — that’s a parade that I can get behind getting rained on.

Where to get it?
