The real answer is obvious. Sports are supposed to be neutral ground, where you can escape the divisive effects of politics. Then, Kaepernick started his campaign to alienate 60% of the viewing audience, and the media jumped in to support him. In the context of an election year, I’m sure that upset a large portion of people looking for an escape from politics. The NFL refuses to acknowledge this for obvious reasons. They screwed up by letting the inmates run the asylum, but they know this will blow over after the godforsaken election is over and Kaepernick’s windmill-jousting becomes rote.
