I was born white, lower middle class. I had advantages that were based on my parents social connections that were not race based. I used military service and student loans to get a step up, I’ve never gotten a job because I was white. That being said, race is still an issue and I realize that. So, if in your life you feel it is a deciding factor in your success, then by all means get it out there and make it known. Use it as a catalyst for change. Not by reversing it, but by eradicating it. I fear that too many people want to see it reversed rather than destroyed. We can only overcome racism by realizing that race is the most ignorant way to categorize people. I think this is best done, not by pointing out the “whiteness" of the world but by emphasizing the “humanness” of it. Keep writing, and I’ll keep reading!
